Hello boys. Hope you are well and having mega lots of fun on the rally. Me and the boys miss you millions. Elvan keeps asking where daddy is and im not exactly sure what to tell him cos i doubt he'll understand that his dad is on his way to mongolia with his crazy dutch mate seb in a car thats as crap as my lawnmower with a massive longboat on top and that he could be gone for 3 or 6 weeks depending on the va-va-voooom of the car. Brenna is missing you but he's not in tears now when i mention your name and i think he likes the fact that he gets to sleep in daddys bed. hahaha.
So seb please take care of Ross as Im sure he'll take care of you. I miss you ross and i miss seb agreeing with me over ross...hahaha. But dont rush back ross. if you get there early and you wish to stay to help those kids for a bit do so as i would in your shoes....kiss kiss mwarr mwarr xxxxx

We are concerned about this issue every time i see it on the front of a paper i just picture myself there pushing seb forward and saying 'He's American' just so i can buy myself some time to run away.
It is a bit scetchy we must admit but we signed up for this Luny adventure knowing all this.

Well my Freind its a bit like this there are certain things in the world that people like you and me have no control over and some of the Children in Mongolia dont have a choice of being tossed out on the streets and left to fend for them selves from as young one year old.We are Raising Money to help these poor little souls.
I can imagine that you are really good at computer games and the only adventure you have is on 'Grand theft auto'.Yep our car is too small for the task but that is all in the spirit of the rally and making a challenge for yourself.Could you put on your cv'Transcontinental Endurance Racer'??? Or I'm good at staying in and playing x-box or psp.
Think to the big picture and make people smile man you will be a more posative person.

Jen, that's a very good point. When we hit Central Asia deliciously boiled goat entrails, testicels and skull will become a standard. And, uhm, I might have a bit of a problem here. However tasty these dishes are I sadly won't be able to enjoy them. You see I'm a vegetarian.

To be honest because we will have an average speed of 55mph we decided that a suport crew would only slow us down.With mine and Seb's combined mechanical knowledge of about as much as a boiled Egg we figured that we wouldn't need one any way....We are Hard core and dont have a budget of the BBC

Well Clive we could be a mixture of both stupid and brave but i think that its just- 'Comfortable Naive'.How many people do you know that have been to Iran?We have heard lots of good things about it being unspoiled by Tourism and has lots of well kept historical places.

We're taking the long boat for three reasons:
1 We'll blend in better amongst the locals in the mountains and deserts of Central Asia
2 It's aerodynamics will help us go faster. we'll hit a whopping top speed of at least 55mph!
3 When we do run out of petrol we'll put up the sail and let the wind take us.
Surely you agree that makes sense?

Petrol is a thing that we get asked about alot and most 8 year olds recon we wont make it due to the fact we will run out.
We have 2 x 20 litre petrol cans to fill up as well for the long stretches such as the deserts and most of Mongolia.
In Iran apparently petrol is only 5p a litre but you have to buy ration cards.
