Today was a slower paced day it started with a trip to the fire station to wash the Rally car in preparation for Newport town centre tomorrow. When I pulled into the station Another Fellow lover of Fire was there and had a problem with his car, the hose connector that flows to the radiator had snapped on the engine block.
So off to the old faithful scrap yard but the hunt was unsuccessful and the journey followed onto a few other parts dealers but being BMW inevitably ended at Snows BMW garage,
I was completely dressed for the occasion sporting my sheep sheering vest greasy ripped jeans and fresh from the scrap yard hands and arms (hmmmmm greasy) everybody else wore suits and I even think that they had midgets under the desks polishing their shoes whilst they sat down.
I gazed out the window at our little sweet Rally car with its stickers telling its story of life and hard ships to come, I could feel the seething Envy coming from all the Bmw’s and Range Rovers that were surrounding our vessel of Adventure. Those cars new that their life would be a mundane existence of school runs and shopping with no adventure what so ever living in hope of one day, just one day being free from their chains of a symbolic badge of prestige. They didn’t have the part so a bodge fix was on the cards and has done the job.
I picked the Viking boat up from Sebs and loaded the car for our day in Town; let’s hope it’s a good one.
Mental preparation is one thing that I thought wouldn’t be a problem but lately there has been a real sense of nerves between both of us about the trip getting closer we are still waiting to hear updates on how are Visas are coming along, and the vehicle Carnet is currently in the process of being sorted
Till tomorrow out for now
Ross
