Captains log 19th may in the team base Town of East Cowes.
Well the log begins only a few days late so sorry to those who logged in earlier.
Today saw and early rise on the day with a mission to see the man who has made a roof rack for our Longboat and is getting us a full set of suspension for when ours inevitably collapses in the middle of no-mans land, where there wouldn’t be any help around for miles.
On my way there I had a phone call form Colin saying he will ring me tomorrow and we could go and pick up the roof rack and the suspension.
During a quick visit to load the rally car up with loft boards at B&Q I purchased wire mesh to fix behind the bumper to protect our tiny little radiator as it will be working overtime when we get to Turkey onwards as we are expecting temperatures of nearly 50+.So a spare wouldn’t go amiss. The next stop was to the scrap yard and low and behold there were 2 swifts lying limp and broken feeling very sorry for them selves, CHAAA-CHING these sorry excuses for fine steeds shall hopefully be our vessels for spare parts. Also I purchased a 2nd hand battery as a back up in case we leave the lights on and drain the battery to nearly non existence, this creating the problem of an Electric fuel pump not working if there is no initial power to pump fuel to the injectors.(Not that Ross has left the lights on and had this problem before huh...).
Today also saw the light of our permit to take our car to Newport Town Centre on Fridays and drop the sail and set forth on telling people what we are doing.
The underneath was measured today for the pieces of sheet metal to make the Belly pans to help prevent damage to the undercarriage.
Will we get our stuff tomorrow?........
