A day from the finish.

The driving go extreme and fun.

Car is performing like a legend.

Tashanta in the beautiful Altai.

Lots of log cabins.

And the real mountain feel...

Early start to head into Russian Altai mountains.

We met up with 4 Indian teams, a British and a Dutch team.

The race was on - we foúght over 400 km and came out...

We awoke with hope of another mamoth day.

Both have dodgy stomachs.

Our biggest day yet.

520 miles in 16 hrs!

Long boring distances across the plains.

A restless night after a rousing by a confused farmer.

We were at the border by 12, but got turned back.

Wrong border!

Arrived at Cinaz, Kazak border.

After a full mornings drive and a 2hr u turn we've found

A mammoth task today.

Driving through the Turkmen desert with 50°C heat, heading for

Uzbekistan.

Started later than we wanted.

The roads, very poor, the going slow.

Into the 50°c heat...

Hey, moving towards the port!

We're almost clear of this awful boat.

But docking only meant more waiting first...

Still on the ferry. Stuck.
Decided conyoying with ten other teams.

The ferry has stopped and dropped anchor.

The crew are rude and very unpleasant.

We started at Azer border at 7 in the morning.

Had to say  to get car in took e hours.

Guards very nasty.

We bombed through country.

Early start again after a wake up call by concerned police.

The road turned bad quick.

Got lost on a crazy rutted mountain road.

Had to ford rivers.

We past Ankara by lunch.

It's getting hot again.

The car is showing the familiar signs of....

Well, today was make or break...

...and we made it!

We've got our Azer visas!

Not only that...

Still Istanbul

After a cracking nite at the fire station it was an early rise this morning to litteraly battle our way through the mayhem that is Istanbul traffic.We cued at the embassy of Azerbajan then carried about 3 diffenrent trips up into the shop area to get coppies and pictures etc,paid at the bank for the visas.lots of other teams seemed to be having trouble with the men in the embassy but they took a shine to our niavety and the neclace that Brennan had made me for luck and we ended up joking around with them which was excellent as they were turning people away from 12 o clock and it was now nearly 13.00 and the best part....

Well, we rolled into Istanbul this morning and booked into a hotel as the camp site was now a building site. In the day we are off to the embassy for visas..

What a night in the fire station...

Arrive in Istanbul.

It's now eleven at night. It looks like this might be our first night in the car...

The campsite we're looking for is infact...

Arg... This is the third time we've broken down!

We recon the engine  is getting too hot.

It's like an oven here. Record 43c!
